Enter into the Weirdness

Working on a sermon on prayer and spiritual warfare, I came across this quote by John Piper in a discussion on prayer:

“People do not get enamored or helped by a Christianity that glosses over its weirdness and tries to make it easy and palatable and boring.  Christianity comes alive to people when they see it as weird and you say, ‘Yeah.  It’s wildly weird…  It’s so weird it’s true!  In fact one of the weirdest things about it is that it’s true.” (an excerpt from an mp3 recording on prayer, meditation, and fasting)

So join the circus people.  We’re not all safe, and you might step in something… which is why you just might feel at home.
